Projects, events and news from the University of Cambridge Museums
Forget a romantic evening of hearts, chocolate and wine – what you’re looking for is a night of hilarity, silliness, and good old quizzing!
It all began back in November with Curating Cambridge, our five week cultural festival. Cambridge Junction and University of Cambridge Museums co-commissioned a show-cum-quiz to bring together the idiosyncrasies and stories of the city with the weird and wonderful collections of the museums.
The result – the wonderful, the bizarre, the sparkling ‘Things of Cambridge: A Pub Quiz’.
…. and now’s your chance to get those cogs turning and join in.
This time it’s adapted to challenge your knowledge of Cambridge Junction but your museum know-how will still be tested and as always be prepared to get hands-on with our artefacts.
Irreverent, historically accurate but downright stupid, the show celebrates 25 years of sex, (prescription) drugs and rock’n’roll – and theatre – since Cambridge Junction opened. Questions will range from trivia to hypothetical, philosophical to personal, Cambridge to Cambridge Junction!
The first test – to come up with a team name.
Lethal Quizzle, Quizzy Rascal, Quiz de Burgh… only seem to be able to think of pop star-related names. Desperately thinking of a museum-related one…
Come on your own and make a team with others or come as a group ready and raring to go. To ensure a good spot you can even book a table in advance.
Cambridge Junction 25th Birthday celebrations – There’s a whole day dedicated to families, from fun workshops to unusual backstage tours, and for the grownies, as well as quizzing and comedy, their first ever club night makes a return. Alongside events to entertain and tickle, you can also check out and interact with ‘Percussion‘ – a musical intervention created by Cambridge University Architecture students.
The original ‘Things of Cambridge: A Pub Quiz’ was co-commissioned by Cambridge Junction and University of Cambridge Museums, supported using public funding by Arts Council England
