Projects, events and news from the University of Cambridge Museums
As part of the Fitzwilliam Museum education programme we enjoy working with groups of young people on the Arts Award scheme. If the Arts Award is new to you then think Duke of Edinburg but for the arts!
The Arts Award has three progressive levels at secondary: Bronze, Silver and Gold. For younger pupils there are two other levels: Discover and Explore.
Why do an Arts Award? Well its great fun! You learn so much about yourself, about the arts you are involved with and you get to have some amazing trips out!
Working on an Arts Award project with Cromwell Community College, Sarah-Cate and Lucy from the Fitzwilliam Museum education team helped a group of 14 talented students from Year 8 discover move about the arts and artists of the Victorian era.
We looked at art and objects in the collection from paintings to ceramics, jewellery to furniture and wallpapers. From these starting points we made a series of our own art works some of which you see here.
The Fitzwilliam Museum would like to say a big thank you to everyone that took part and we look forward to our arts journey with you next year!
